OpenAPI: SAP Ariba API Developer Portal access issue with Single-Sign On and Multi-Factor Authentication
Issue

Users can't login to SAP Ariba API Developer Portal with Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Resolution

Starting February 19th, 2022, SAP Ariba Developer portal will no longer allow logging on with username and password.
All access to the developer portal will be performed via single sign-on (SSO) from SAP ID service (IDS) exclusively.
SAP Ariba customer organization administrator users seeking to add, edit, and delete users will do so via the user management link available on the developer portal.

User management interface controls will be pointing to SAP Launchpad where S-users are being managed. Administrator of your organization must already register your organization to the developer portal and your account must also be part of the correct organization.

Case when Partner user needs access to customer organization, a separate user must be created by the user administrator of customer organization. This is separate from Partner organization. When logging on, please pay attention to the persona you are currently on.

Prior to contacting SAP Support, user is advised to prepare the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) response generated from Single Sign on attempt to SAP Ariba developer portal. SAML tracer plugin or SAML message plugin extension is recommended to gather the SAML response data. Customer can reach out to SAP SSO team via email: sso@sap.com

Note: For SAP Business Network Supplier, the single sign-on (SSO) is provided via SAP Business Network ID service. It is strongly suggested to attempt the login to SAP Ariba developer portal via direct link in SAP Business Network administrator settings page.

Cause

SAP Ariba Developer portal relies on S-user credentials from SAP ID service (IDS) to authenticate users with SSO and MFA. Proper S-user setup is required and this needs involvement from Administrator user of customer organization.
