Public Certificate Update Process Questions:

Will there be any downtime during the certificate update?

Ideally there will be no application downtime during the certificate update. While the certificate update is taking place, there may be integration errors received but customers can retry after the certificate update has been completed by SAP Ariba and on the customer’s side.

Can the change first be applied to Test or Dev realm and then on to Production?

SAP Ariba is cloud platform and all the customer environments (Prod, Test and Dev) are hosted on the same servers. Changes are made on the server level therefore changes are applied to all the environments at the same time.

Can a customer request to postpone the certificate update change as they are not ready?

Unfortunately, an individual customer cannot postpone a certificate update.

Can a customer get an exact time when the certificate needs to be changed instead of the time range provided in the notification?

The certificate update process is a multi-step process which also includes verification testing.  In advance of the certificate update, SAP Ariba provides a time range in the notifications when the certificate update will occur.  SAP Ariba will not start a certificate update earlier than the time communicated but will notify customers if the changes have been completed earlier than the time that was previously communicated.

For Buyers, we send out notifications on the day of the certificate update when the process has started and completed from an SAP Ariba perspective.  Customers are then safe to apply the certificate update on their end).

For Suppliers, we provide a notification on the day of the certificate update when the process has completed from an SAP Ariba perspective.
