Feature Description

This feature enables buyers to enclose the content of their guided sourcing events in different envelopes. Participant responses are not revealed until the envelopes are opened. In this way, buyers can have an unbiased evaluation of participant responses.

By ensuring that technical evaluation is completed before commercial bids are exposed, customers can ensure that only qualified suppliers (bids) are awarded.

Prerequisites

This feature is supported only in the guided sourcing user interface. This feature adds support in guided sourcing for envelope bidding. The SAP Ariba Sourcing classic user interface also supports envelope bidding; refer to Event sections.

Your site must have guided sourcing enabled and you must be a member of the Category Buyer group.

You must be the event owner or have project owner capabilities for the event.

Restrictions

Only items in opened envelopes can be awarded.

Only root sections can be assigned to envelopes. Any other types of content that you'd like to include in an envelope must be in a root section.

A guided sourcing project can only contain a maximum of 9 envelopes.

If the event rule Allow rejected envelope bids to be opened is set to Yes, the following restrictions apply:

Rejected envelopes can only be recovered and opened when the event is in the Review responses state and all the envelopes in the event have been opened.
After a rejected envelope has been recovered and opened, it can no longer be rejected.
Only users in the Recover Rejected Envelopes group can recover and open rejected envelopes.

To use envelope bidding in competitive events, for example, auctions, the parameter Enable envelope for competitive event (Application.AQS.RFX.EnableEnvelopeForCompetitiveEvent) must be set to Yes.
