Why should I use ERP customization options instead of Mapping Tool to implement logic customization?
The Mapping Tool does not support complex transformation, logic, and rules. The best approach for these scenarios is to implement the customization in the ERP end.
Using the customization options in your ERP allows you to have better control regarding the desired modifications and to implement easy changes when necessary.
BAdI and Customer Exits are examples of customization options that can be done in the ERP. However, there are a lot of possibilities that can be used, and this should be checked with the Consulting Partner to understand which one better fits your business needs.
If you have any questions about how to use the Mapping Tool, you can refer to How to use the SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network Mapping Tool?
For any information related to Customizations in the ERP using BAdI, please refer to Customization | SAP Help Portal
For Customer Exits, you can check the guide sections related to Customer Exits, depending on the scenario. For example, for POs created in the ERP as IDOCs, you can refer to Implementing a Customer Exit for Purchase Orders | SAP Help Portal
