How to capture HAR Logs?

Resolution

To log HAR in Google Chrome, follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome and navigate to the webpage that you wish to log the HAR for.
  2. To open Chrome DevTools, right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect, or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + I (for Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Option + I (for Mac).
  3. Once in the DevTools panel, select the Network tab.
  4. Check if the Record Network log (a red circle) at the top-left corner of the Network panel is active. If it is not, click it to start recording.
If you are capturing network activity from a fresh page load, consider refreshing the page by pressing F5 or Ctrl + R (for Windows/Linux) or Cmd + R (for Mac).
  5. The Network panel will capture and list all network requests made by the page, such as HTTP requests for images, scripts, AJAX calls, etc. Wait for all necessary network activity to finish loading.
  6. After the page has loaded and the desired network traffic has been captured, right-click anywhere within the Network panel and select Export HAR (sanitized) near top right (export icon)
  7. Choose a location on your computer to save the HAR file.

Preserve Log: If you want to capture network traffic while navigating between pages, check the "Preserve log" checkbox at the top of the Network panel. This will ensure that the log isn't cleared when the page reloads.

Disable Cache: If you want to avoid cached resources being used while capturing the logs, check the Disable cache option in the Network tab (it works only while DevTools is open).

That’s it! You’ve now captured the HAR logs for your web page. The HAR file will contain detailed information about the network requests, which can be useful for debugging, performance analysis, or troubleshooting.
