1. Log in to SAP Ariba with administrator privileges.
2. Navigate to User Manager.
3. Select Users.
4. Use the available filters and choose either:
   • Enterprise User
   • Third Party Enterprise User (Ariba)
5. Review the users displayed under the selected category.

A Third Party User is functionally equivalent to an Enterprise User with respect to system access, permissions, and group memberships. Both user types can be assigned the same roles, permissions, and access rights required to perform business activities within SAP Ariba.
The primary difference between the two user types lies in the authentication method used to access the SAP Ariba application.

Enterprise Users

Enterprise Users are generally employees who belong to the organization's internal user directory, such as:

• Microsoft Active Directory (AD)
• Other corporate identity management systems

When Corporate Authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO) are enabled, Enterprise Users authenticate through the organization's identity provider. Their credentials are managed by the corporate authentication system rather than SAP Ariba.

Third Party Users

Third Party Users are intended for individuals who require access to SAP Ariba but are not part of the organization's corporate user directory.

Examples include:

• Contractors
• Consultants
• Temporary workers
• External project team members
• Third-party service providers
• Business partners requiring limited system access

These users are configured with the PasswordAdapter value set to ThirdPartyUser in their SAP Ariba user profile.
Because of this configuration, Third Party Users can authenticate directly through SAP Ariba instead of relying on the organization's corporate authentication system.

Note:
When a user has permanently left your company, you can terminate the user to prevent unauthorized access.
Terminating involves locking the user out of the system, delegating the user’s authority to another user to complete any outstanding approvable tasks, and then deactivating the user.
