How to hide the estimated price from suppliers in a guided buying RFQ event
When a supplier is responding to a request for quotation (RFQ) event created in guided buying, they can see the estimated price and other price information in the email notification and when signing in to view the sourcing event. Can I hide the initial price from suppliers?
To hide the default price from suppliers on guided buying RFQs, you must first start a new sourcing template version:
- In SAP Ariba Sourcing, go to Manage > Templates.
- Open the desired guided buying quote sourcing template.
- In the Properties section, choose Actions > New Version.
- In the Documents section, click Guided Buying Quote and then choose Edit.
- Access the Content step.
Next, you must update a few term definitions, starting with the price and quantity:
- In the Definitions section, click Item Template and then choose Edit.
- In the Item Terms section, click the Price term and then choose Edit.
- Ensure the following fields are set accordingly:
- Response Required? is set to Yes, Participant Required.
- Visible to Participant is set to Yes, after access gate is cleared.
- Will participants compete on this term is set to Yes, Downward Bidding.

- In the Item Terms section, click the Line Number term and then choose Edit.
- Ensure the following fields are set accordingly:
- Response Required? is set to No, Owner Optional - Participant Cannot Respond.
- Visible to Participant is set to Yes, after access gate is cleared.
- Click OK.
- Scroll down to the Bidding Rules section, and ensure the following settings:
- Compete on Term is set to Price.
- Use initial value as is set to None.
Now, publish the new template version:
- Click Done.
- Click Next, and then click Exit.
- Click Return to project.
- In the Properties section, choose Actions > Publish.
To finalize the changes:
- Copy the new sourcing template ID, and configure this value in the guided buying supplier and touch policy file for the Sourcing Template Name on the Template Configuration tab of the Excel file.
- Load the updated supplier and touch policy file on the guided buying admin page.
- Create and submit a new RFQ in guided buying that will reference the updated policy and sourcing template.
- When the supplier receives the email notification for the sourcing event, the price is shown as blank in all locations when clicking Email quote or See event from the email notification.
Hiding the price in the sourcing event email notification doesn't work if you have the Application.AQS.RFX.HideContentUntilAgreementAccepted parameter enabled in your site. When enabled, this parameter hides the Yes, after access gate is cleared option when setting the term definitions.
