# Do I need Dun & Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number?

## Symptom

Do I need Dun & Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number?

## Resolution

A DUNS number is not required to register on the SAP Business Network unless [your customer requires it](https://support.ariba.com/item/view/KB0756540). In addition, your customer may require a DUNS number in a **Customer Requested Profile** or **Supplier Registration** **Questionnaire**.

- You will only use a DUNS number on SAP Ariba when interacting with North American companies.
- Once you add a DUNS number to your account, no other account may use that same DUNS number.
