What is a dForm?
Symptom

What is a dForm and what can it be used for?

Resolution

A dForm is a customized data entry page designed for a specific organization’s business needs.

Ariba designs dForms for customers using Ariba Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management Solutions to automate processes that previously required paper forms or separate applications. dForms are similar to eForms, which are used in SAP Ariba Procurement and Invoicing Solutions.

dForms can contain a rich palette of controls and widgets. For example, a dForm might contain one-line and multi-line text boxes, pop-up menus, radio buttons, and a table with text boxes and menus.

Unlike eForms, dForm templates reside in workspaces. Users open a workspace, like a Sourcing Project, select a dForm, complete it, and submit it. No approval is necessary for dForms.

Access to dForms is controlled by folder permissions; an administrator organizes dForms into logical folders to let users find the ones they need easily. dForm data is reportable, but it is not exportable.

Users cannot delete or make changes to dForms and a dForm can only be Created and Edited by the Services team. This requires access to the group Form Template Creator which is not available for end users or Customer Administrators.
