FAQ KB0393466
Email
Where is my password reset email?
Symptom

I requested a password reset but did not receive the email with instructions.

Environment

SAP Business Network

SAP Ariba Sourcing

SAP Ariba Buyer

Reproducing the Issue
  1. Go to the Supplier login page.
  2. Click the Forgot Password link.
  3. Enter your username and click Submit.
  4. Check your email inbox and junk/spam folder.
  5. Observe that the password reset email has not been delivered.

Cause

You may not have received the password reset email for one of the following reasons:

  1. The username entered is incorrect, in the wrong format, or is not associated with the email address being checked. Usernames are case-sensitive.
  2. The email address configured in your user account is misspelled or is different from the one you are checking.
  3. Your email client or company's security settings are filtering the notification into a junk/spam folder or blocking it entirely.
  4. Your company's email server is blocking emails from SAP's originating email address (ordersender-prod@ansmtp.ariba.com).
  5. Your company's account is configured for Single Sign-On (SSO), which disables the standard password reset function.

Resolution

After you submit your request for a password reset, SAP Business Network sends instructions to the email address associated with your account. If you didn't receive a password reset email, check the following scenarios to troubleshoot:

  1. The username you entered is in the wrong format, or it isn't associated with the email address you are checking.
  2. Keep in mind, your username is in the format of a full email address, but it can be associated with any email address you entered previously.
  3. Your username is also case-sensitive.
  4. To confirm that you are using the correct username and format, return to the Supplier login page and click the Forgot Username link.
  5. Enter the email address associated with your account and click Submit.
  6. You will receive an email that lists the exact format of the username associated with the email you entered.

You entered the correct username, but you still didn't receive the password reset email notification. This can occur if the configured email address is different from the account you are checking.
  1. Your email address for your account may contain a incorrect spelling, if your account administrator created you as a user.
  2. You might have multiple accounts for your company, so make sure you are attempting to access the correct account.
  3. Your email configuration or company's security settings might also prevent you from receiving the password reset email. To find out, check your junk mail folder or email filter settings to verify that automated emails from SAP are not blocked from your email account.
  4. You might also need to add SAP's originating email address to your allow list. Ask your IT department to allow ordersender-prod@ansmtp.ariba.com.

If the site is SSO enabled, the password reset email will not send. If you're not the administrator of the account, Contact your admin for help. Contact SAP Support if you are the administrator.
