This feature adds validation checking when suppliers create new or update existing Manufacturing Planning Visibility planning items. Specifically, it checks the combination of the planning item’s part number and location to make sure the combination matches at least one existing planning item that was previously created by the buyer for a planning process type such as Forecast, Supplier managed inventory, or Replenishment.
When using the Manufacturing Planning Visibility planning process types, suppliers create new planning records and update existing ones by sending product replenishment messages for a specific customer part no. and customer location. Currently there is no validation on Ariba Network or SAP backend systems of whether the customer part no. and customer location of the planning record sent by the supplier exist in the customer’s backend. Nor is there validation on whether the combination of the two values sent by the supplier is valid. This sometimes leads to errors when the supplier mistakenly sends data with erroneous customer part no. or customer location or even sends information for a material no. in a customer location that does not process that material. Identifying the errors in the manufacturing visibility planning records is time consuming for both buyers and suppliers.
With this solution, customers will prevent the supplier from sending incorrect manufacturing visibility data, thus saving time previously needed to validate the manufacturing item master and fix errors.
