Error: "BusinessNetwork response is :"Not Acceptable" and ErrorCode:"406" and ErrorResponse:"Invalid Document:Attribute "itemClassification; [...]" for RFQ in Managed Gateway for Spend&Network
Symptom

When sending Request for Quotation (RFQ) from SAP ERP or SAP S/4 HANA to SAP Business Network using SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network, the following error is displayed in Managed Gateway for Spend&Network Transaction Tracker:

BusinessNetwork response is :"Not Acceptable" and ErrorCode:"406" and ErrorResponse:"Invalid Document:Attribute "itemClassification" with value "" must have a value from the list "material service ". at line 135, column 43.. Suggested Action : Document failed in Business Network.ErrorCode:CIG-PLT-00644


Cause

Unsupported item category is used in RFQ scenario which causes fields itemClassification and itemType to be sent without any value to SAP Business Network in the cXML payload.


Resolution
Ensure to select supported item category i.e. material or service while creating RFQ in SAP ERP or SAP S/4 HANA.
