How to enable/disable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Symptom

How do I enable or disable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in my SAP Business Network account?

Resolution

As a prerequisite, only the SAP Business Network account Administrator or users with the User Administration permission, can manage these settings. If you're entitled to proceed, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign into your SAP Business Network account
  2. Click on Account Settings > Settings > Users
  3. Under Manage User Authentication tab, Tick or untick the checkbox Require multi-factor authentication for login to enable or disable MFA respectively
  4. Read and confirm (clicking Yes) the information in the confirmation dialog
  5. Click Save.

You can also select the users for whom you want to enable or disable multi-factor authentication.

  1. check or uncheck the boxes next to usernames from the user list to enable or disable MFA respectively
  2. Click Enable/Disable
  3. Read and confirm (clicking OK) the list of users
  4. Click Save.

Note that these changes will only be applied to the selected users, and you can confirm the current setting through the Enabled For Login/Update column value for each user.

When multi-factor authentication is enabled, the required users must install an authenticator application such as SAP Authenticator from iTunes (for iOS devices) or from Google Play (for Android devices) in your hand-held devices to generate a time-based verification code (also called time-based one-time password). The time-based verification code setup is also compatible with third-party authenticators such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

If you enable Require multifactor authentication for critical fields, the impacted users will be required to perform the two-step verification process while attempting to update the values of critical fields such as email addresses, phone numbers, remittance information and so on.

After enabling MFA, you may also want to review and configure additional settings for it. Those can be found below:
