How to enable or disable multifactor authentication for login in SAP Business Network?
Symptom

How do I enable or disable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for login in SAP Business Network?

Resolution

Multi-factor authentication is a two-step verification process where users are required to authenticate themselves a second time using a time-based verification code. As compared to the single step authentication process, the multi-factor authentication process provides enhanced security.

As the SAP Business Network account administrator, you can enable this for specific sub-users in your account. In order to do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your SAP Business Network account

2. Access the Manage User Authentication tab

3. Check or Uncheck the box Require multi-factor authentication for login

4. Read and confirm (clicking Yes) the information in the confirmation dialog

5. Click Save.

You can select the users you would like to be enabled or disable for multi-factor authentication.

  1. Select the desired users by checking or uncheck the boxes next to their corresponding usernames from the table
  2. Click Enable/Disable
  3. Read and confirm (clicking OK) the list of users
  4. Click Save

Note that only the selected users will be enabled for "multifactor authentication for login", along with the account Administrator. If you do not select any user from the table, none of the users in your organization will be enabled for multifactor authentication, except for your own user.

After enabling MFA, you may also want to review and configure your settings for it in SAP Business Network.

See Also
When multifactor authentication is enabled for an organization, users must install an authenticator application such as SAP Authenticator from iTunes (for iOS devices) or from Google Play (for Android devices) in their hand-held devices to generate a time-based verification code (also called time-based one-time password).

If you enable multifactor authentication for critical fields, you will be required to perform the two-step verification process while attempting to update the values of critical fields such as email addresses, phone numbers, remittance information and so on.
