The component inventory-based consumption report feature validates that the buyer batch number of the consumed component matches the buyer batch number that is defined in component inventory.

Ariba Network currently does not match a batch number entered in component consumption reports against the entries in component inventory, so that an arbitrary batch number can be used in a component consumption report. This scenario might lead to batch-mismatching issues in a Buyer’s backend system.

This feature introduces a new business rule to mandate that only buyer batch numbers that are assigned to the vendor/component in Component Inventory are allowed to be used in a consumption report, thus avoiding communication and correction efforts due to batch-mismatching issues in component consumption reports.
