How do I configure ad hoc classifiers in guided buying?
How do I configure which commodity codes are available on non-catalog requests in guided buying?
Non-catalog requests include a category field which contains a filtered list of commodity codes that can be managed in the Guided buying Admin menu.
A filtered list makes it easier for users to know what to choose, while also allowing their organization to control the commodities for which they allow ad hoc requests.
To enable this feature, you will need to perform 2 steps:
- Set the two guided buying parameters related to commodity codes:
- ENABLE_TREE_MENU_CHOOSER
- Specifies how users see the commodity code hierarchy and how they search for commodity codes when choosing Browse all for the Category field on the ad hoc request page.
- ENABLE_ADHOC_CLASSIFICATION
- Prerequisite: ENABLE_TREE_MENU_CHOOSER must be set to true
- Determines whether to show a subset of commodity codes to users when they create ad hoc requests. The default setting (false) means that users see the whole list of commodities when clicking Browse all for the Category field on an ad hoc request
- If you change this parameter to true, you can configure which commodity codes to make available to users on ad hoc requests.
- Configure a subset of commodity codes to make available to users when they create ad hoc requests.
- Important points to keep in mind:
- ZIP file name doesn't matter
- Folder names in the ZIP file always must be valid locale codes
- For example: en or en_US for English, es or es_ES for Spanish, and so on
- You can place more than one locale folder in the same ZIP file to upload
- The locale folder names you use should match the locale codes you assign to users
- For example, if your users have their locale set to Spanish, use es, but if they have their locale set to Spanish-Spain, use es_ES
- CSV file name within the folder doesn't matter
- For step by step instructions please refer to: How to configure which commodity codes are available on non-catalog requests

When choosing Download commodity codes on the guided buying administration page, if there are unwanted locale codes in the downloaded files, you can clear out those ad hoc classifiers, but you can't completely get rid of a locale code folder once it's been created.
To clear out the ad hoc classifiers for the unwanted locale codes, load a ZIP file that contains the unwanted locale folder. Within the unwanted locale folder, include a CSV file with the domain and commodity code values only and a blank value for the AdhocClassifier column.
However, this process doesn't get rid of the unwanted locale folders, such as es_esp or en_ing. These aren't actual locales in guided buying, so they have no effect on users.
Important: After getting rid of the ad hoc classifier data for the unwanted locale folders, you'll need to re-establish your English locale ad hoc classifiers.
