Error Creating Object:
Symptom

When I try to create contract terms or import terms from an excel file, I get the error

Error Creating Object:

Cause

The terms file format is invalid, or the system may incorrectly look at an older version of the terms file when importing to the contract terms.

Resolution

If you are importing terms from a Microsoft Excel file, mark the existing file to not be used as the terms file. If you do not plan on using a terms file, look for any Microsoft Excel file in the Contract Workspace (CW) documents and ensure the file is not marked as the terms file.

To unmark a file as the terms file:

  1. Sign in to your SAP Ariba Contracts solution.
  2. Search for and open the CW that is affected.
  3. Click Documents.
  4. Next to a given Microsoft Excel file, click the actions dropdown () > Edit Attributes.
  5. Change Use As from Contract Content to None.
  6. Click Save.

Then, create a new terms file by clicking click the actions dropdown () next to your Contract Terms, then Export it to Excel. Going forward, you can use this new terms file to import from.

Always avoid formatting the exported Pricing Terms document. For example, do not delete columns or change the column's title, do not remove tabs or highlight cells. Essentially, keep the formatting the same as how it initially exports.
