Is it possible to mass close the order's line items, not just orders at header level (eg- close the first two lines of all last year's orders or other specific criteria)?

SAP does not support mass closure for line items, the supported mass or bulk close functionalities are:

• Automatic and manual closure of bulk purchase orders.
• How to manually close purchase orders in bulk.

With that in mind, SAP Ariba Buying supports two flows for closing orders:

• SAP Initiated: this can be sent to the ERP (depends on your configuration).
• ERP Initiated: the orders or lines are closed on the ERP then the close status is sent to SAP.

The second flow works with feature OPCCC-532: Enforcing order close status imported from SAP back-end systems using web service.

This could help with mass close action if the external system is capable of mass closing the lines and exporting that request to SAP Ariba.

Prerequisites:

• The ability to close individual line items in a purchase order feature is turned on.
• Support for the SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network is enabled in your buying solution.
• Support for asynchronous integration events for the web service channel in SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network is enabled in your solution.

Limitations:

• Only one of the flows is allowed to be configured at any given time: either close the orders on SAP Ariba, or on the external system.
• Purchase Orders cannot be mass reopened in Ariba
