How do I export or import templates?

How do I migrate templates from test to production?


Resolution

Follow the steps below to export the template:

  1. Click Manage > Templates .
  2. Open the template you want to export.
  3. In the Properties area of the Overview tab of the template, click Actions > Export Template.
  4. Select the location to save the ZIP file.
  5. Select a name for the ZIP file and save it.

To import your template, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Manage > Templates .
  2. Select the template’s Documents tab and click Actions > Import Template .
  3. Browse for a valid ZIP file and click Import.
  4. Verify that the template has imported properly. If the template uses Approver Lookup Tables with Project Group IDs, verify that the IDs in the tables are correct.

By default, the exported ZIP file is named after the workspace ID of the template. You can rename it if needed. When exporting a template, only documents from that template export to the ZIP archive.

You are the owner of any templates you import, so you automatically have the ability to view them.

Additional Information

You must be a member of the Template Creator group to access and edit templates within your site.

Please note that the template may be affected if data is missing from one of the environments. For example, if there is a team in the template that is not a team in the target environment, you may receive errors while uploading the file.

If you import a template that already exists in your site (the IDs for both templates match), the imported template replaces the existing template with a new version.
