What is the difference between cancelling, stopping and closing an event?

Resolution

Canceling events:

If you have permission, you can cancel an event by choosing Actions > Cancel Event . You can undo a cancellation and return an event to Pending Selection state, edit the event, reopen the lots or line items for bidding, and so on.

You might cancel an event if:

To undo cancellation from the details or event monitoring interface of a cancelled event, choose Actions > Undo Cancel.

Stopping events:

If you have permission, you can stop an event by choosing Action > Stop Event . All lots close, the event moves to Pending Selection status, and participants are notified.

Stop an event when you know there are no more responses coming in. You might also stop an event if the buyer does not want a particular item to run or be bid on but doesn't want to cancel an entire project. This option remains visible until after the closing of all bidding periods.

Closing events:

If you have permission, you can change to the Completed state by choosing Actions > Close Event. Once an event has been Closed and moved to the Completed state, no further changes can be made. You cannot revert this action.
