What are the common issues when importing a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet?
The downloaded Excel spreadsheet has a specific structure so that your answers can be correctly imported back to the site after you edit the file. It is important not to modify cells other than those defined for answers. You should always consult the expected answers by hovering over the red triangle in upper right corner of every cell in the Answers column.
Typically, Yes/No questions have a pull-down menu to select your answer. Certain questions with List of Choices also display the pull-down menu in Excel, but for some you may need to enter the response manually in the file. Other questions with answer types such as Money, Percentage, Date also require very distinct formatting.
Language of the response sheet is also important for importing your answers successfully. The header columns have to match your Preferred Language.
Information inside the file that is not understood during import or not allowed by the site cause an error. There may be a message identifying the troubled answer by providing the line, column and sheet name. You should be able to compare your answer in the cell and the requirements for the answer. In other cases, you may receive a specific error number that you can provide to SAP Ariba Customer Support along with the response sheet used.
