Can suppliers see the ceiling value in my event?

Resolution

The pricing terms will always use an initial value as a ceiling value, and participants will be able to see it.

A ceiling price is the highest price that participants can bid for a line item in a reverse auction. The system displays the ceiling price in the participants’ bidding consoles.

The solution is to either provide no initial value or to show a different value to all participants. You can set participant–specific values, meaning a different initial value for each participant. Also the initial value should not be a ceiling value to participants.

Steps to change the Initial Value definition in a template:

  1. Create a new version of the template you would like to edit.
  2. Navigate to the Content tab and edit the line-item definition.
  3. Under Bidding rules, you can see the Use initial value as field. Set it to default.
  4. Publish the template.

Select this edited version of the template to create a request for proposal (RFP) or reverse auction.

While creating the pricing section, follow these steps:

  1. Create a line item.
  2. Under item terms, enter the initial price which is visible only to the buyer.
  3. Click Set participant-specific values.
  4. Scroll down and enter “0” next to the participants under the list of invited participants.
  5. Click Done.

You now see the initial price set as in the item terms, and the participants see the initial price as "0". Since there is no ceiling price, the participants can bid any value.

Additional Information

Note that you have to have specific permissions in order to edit the template. You may have to reach out to an administrator or other user from your company to edit the template.
