How do I maintain commodity code mappings?

Resolution

You can maintain commodity codes mappings in the user interface or through data import/export. Commodity code mappings are bidirectional, so when you set up mappings, it doesn't matter what domain (custom, UNSPSC, and so on) you choose for the Domain From or Domain To.

Through User Interface:

  1. Go to Manage > Core Administration.
  2. Access the Commodity Code Manager > Commodity Code Maps section.
  3. Search for existing mappings by entering commodity code in the Value From or Value To field and click Edit, or click Create New to create a new mapping.
  4. Choose values for the domain and value fields, and click Save.

Important: Never delete existing mappings from the user interface because it is difficult to reactivate. Use the data import task to handle any commodity code map deactivations.

Through Data import/export:

  1. Create or update the ClassificationCodeMap.csv file you plan to load.

Note: Refer to the data dictionary for the columns in this file and sample values. You can also run the Export Classification Code Relationships task to view the existing commodity code mappings in your site.

  2. Go to Manage > Core Administration.
  3. Access the Site Manager > Data Import/Export section.
  4. On the Import tab, search for the Import Classification Code Relationships task.
  5. Click Import next to this task, and choose the desired import operation.
  6. Browse for your commodity code file, and click Run.
  7. Click OK to confirm the import.
