When importing a project template you receive an error similar to the message displayed below:

You have unresolved references in the imported data ariba.collaborate.core.ProjectGroup Title="Project Owner" Workspace="/Templates/ABC Templates/Contracts/ABC Contract Workspace Template/".

The unresolved references need to be removed from the exported template zip file. The below steps will walk you through how to remove these references:

1. Copy the exported template zip file to a folder called ExportedTemplate.
2. Open the zip file in a program like winzip or winrar and use the search for string option to search for the unresolved reference from the error. So in this case ProjectGroup. (this reference is commonly found in the team.xml file)
3. After extracting the exported zip file, open the team.xml file in a text editor like NotePad++.
4. Remove the <ProjectGroup> tagged section. Example section to remove below:
   <ProjectGroup _LoadId="ET_ADrUAFZCDSKZav" _Logical="true" class="ariba.collaborate.core.ProjectGroup" ref="true">
   <Title>Project Owner</Title>
   <Workspace>/Templates/ABC Templates/Contracts/ABC Contract Workspace Template#2/</Workspace>
   </ProjectGroup>
5. Save the file

Note: Repeat steps 2-5 for all the other project groups specified in the error message if there are more than one.

There is a known issue with the template export where if a template contains a subproject or is a copy of another template with a subproject, it sometimes includes erroneous references to objects (in this case a Project Group) that are not part of the export.
