Why am I receiving a real time budget check error?
Question

When attempting to submit or approve a requisition (PR), we are receiving a real time budget check error.  Why are we receiving this error and what does the error mean?

Answer

When your Ariba system is configured for real time budget checks via parameter Application.Budget.StartDateToEnableRealTimeBudgetChecksInExternalSystems, any budget check errors are not generated by Ariba.  These errors are generated by the external system (typically your ERP) that you have configured to track your budget data.  Ariba simply displays any errors returned by your external system.  To determine why you are seeing these errors in Ariba, you will need to work with the team that manages your external budget system.

Additional Information

Most external system store the budget check web service messages in their log files.  You can use these messages to see exactly what your system is sending to Ariba in response to the budget check.  If you are unable to retrieve these messages from your external system's log files, Ariba Support can collect web service debug logs and provide the real time budget check web service messages to help with your investigation.  This must be done at the time the web service message occurs.
