When does SAP Ariba surrogate bid on events?

The SAP Ariba Market Coordination Team can surrogate bid in exceptional, unexpected circumstances.

Examples of appropriate situations for Market Coordination-provided surrogate bidding include:

• Internet or power outages, such as those caused by natural disasters, power grid failures, or similar
• An abrupt emergency, such as a medical situation or family crisis

Market Coordination will not surrogate bid when there is a scheduled or known conflict. Examples of these circumstances include when a supplier:

• Cannot access a computer at the time of the auction 
• Has scheduled network updates that cause internet connectivity issues
• Encounters previously know Internet issues (such as using a dynamic IP address instead of a static one) 
• Cannot participate because of a previously scheduled appointment of any kind 
• Will not register with SAP Ariba to participate in your event.

Market Coordination can only surrogate bid for your suppliers if SAP Ariba provides event administration services for your company 

Market Coordination only surrogate bids on competitive events. Auctions are the most common format for competitive events, but the system categorizes any event where you set the rule Must participants improve their bids to Yes as competitive.

This excludes the majority of RFIs and RFPs from Market Coordination-provided surrogate bidding.
