In the Guided Buying Capability with SAP Ariba Buying (2NV) integration scenario, buyers can add limit items in guided buying requests for goods and lean services that correspond to the item category E in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Limit items are procured without following the goods receipt and the service sheet processes. The requests for limit items are characterized by validity periods to define the effective dates of the procurement process and predefined amount limits to control item prices.
Currently guided buying does not support the equivalent of SAP S/4 HANA Cloud item category E, Enhanced Limit Items.
This constrains users who commonly use limit items as a part of their purchasing workflow.
With this feature customers can now create limit orders in guided buying for goods and lean services that map to item category E in SAP S/4 HANA Cloud.
Limit items are catalog or non-catalog items that do not require receipts or service sheets. These items are instead bound by a validity period and amount-based limits.
This capability supports buying scenarios for frequent, low value purchases where individual POs are not beneficial; such as minor maintenance services.
Limit item orders can be integrated to SAP S/4 HANA Cloud in the guided buying capability with SAP Ariba Buying (2NV) integration scenario.

- For both SAP Ariba Buying and SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing, this feature requires the guided buying capability.
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud supports this feature for the Guided Buying Capability with SAP Ariba Buying (2NV) integration scenario. You must complete the setup activities for the integration scenario before using this feature. For information on setting up the integration scenario, see Setting Up Guided Buying Capability with SAP Ariba Buying (2NV)Information published on SAP site.
- For SAP Ariba Buying and SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing, this feature requires the guided buying capability.
- The following parameters must be set for your site. SAP Ariba sets these parameters for you. Have your designated support contact file a Case (SR) to set the parameters.
- Application.Procure.EnableServiceItemFieldInRequisition must be enabled.
- Application.Procure.EnableItemCategoryOnRequisitionLine must be enabled.
- Application.ClassificationCodes.SystemCommodityCodeDomainName must be set to the domain for the commodity codes.
- Your administrator must enable the following parameters in guided buying. For information on enabling these parameters, see How to update guided buying parameters.
- ENABLE_LIMIT_ITEM_FOR_S4HANA
- If you plan to add limit items for lean services in the requests, ENABLE_LEAN_SERVICE must be enabled in guided buying.
- Your administrator must configure the commodity code mapping policy. For more information, see How to configure your commodity code mapping policy.
